In and beyond the city limits lie over 3,000 acres of parks and community forest lands, five freshwater lakes, and hiking trails, much of which has been set aside through resident donations for permanent conservation.In addition, Washington Park, a 220-acre gem facing Rosario Strait, includes a full-service campground, boat launch, picnic shelters, and loop road for walking, biking, or driving, plus a playground and beaches. In the middle of Fidalgo, Mount Erie Park rises some 1,300 feet, offering spectacular views of the San Juan islands and Skagit Valley. Stroll across the bay on the Tommy Thompson Trail, a former railroad trestle.


Bowman Bay & Rosario Beach

The south side of Fidalgo Island features Bowman Bay and Rosario Beach. Trails for hiking, beach combing, wildlife viewing, views of Deception Pass bridge, spectacular sunsets, all provide a nature lover with year round outdoor excitement.

Deception Pass Bridge & Deception Pass State Park

The much-photographed Deception Pass Bridge with its dramatic views and beaches is just minutes away from Anacortes.

On The Water

Whale Watching

The Salish Sea is home to J,K and L Pod. Over 80 Orca whales. Anacortes is one of the homeports for whale watching tours.

Boating

The San Juans and up to Alaska, provide boaters with some of the most scenic boating waters in the world. Anacortes is home to one of the top ten marinas in the U.S., Cap Sante Marina.
